Trump's Medical Condition: Chronic Venous Insufficiency, Says White House

Trump’s Medical Condition: The White House has released a statement about President Donald Trump’s medical conditions after the public speculation grew about swelling in his legs and bruises on his right hand. The house announced that the president had been diagnosed with Chronic Venous Insufficiency.

Trump’s Medical Condition

Recently, a photo of President Trump with his wife and FIFA President and his wife from the World Cup Final in East Rutherford has gone viral over Trump’s lower leg swelling and rashes on the right hand. Many people were wondering if the President is in good health or not.

Now, the White House has released the memo on July 17, 2025, shedding light on President Trump’s medical condition. The memo states the White House medical unit has evaluated the mild swelling in the President’s lower leg and examined the condition.

Based on the vascular examination and laboratory testing, the physician diagnosed that the President has chronic Venous Insufficiency, a common condition in the elderly over 70. The memo reveals otherwise, the President is in good health, as all his vitals have returned to normal in the laboratory tests.

And about the rashes or bruises on the right hand of the President, the authority clarifies that it was a minor soft tissue irritation caused by aspirin or frequent handshakes.

What is Chronic Venous Insufficiency?

The CVI is a venous disease that occurs when the veins are affected or damaged, especially in the legs, and it does not allow the blood to flow back to the heart, causing the blood to pool around the lower legs. The improper flow of blood can cause swelling, pain, discomfort, or sometimes ulcers.

According to medicine, this disease is very common among people aged above 50, and its risk increases with age. The reports revealed that 1 in 20 adults is affected due to this disease, either due to family history, being overweight, or when your leg is damaged.

The major symptoms of CVI are itchy skin, swelling in legs or ankles, reddish brown spots, pain in legs, or tiredness. The CVI is common in the elderly due to a lack of exercise, high blood pressure in the legs from standing and sitting for a long time, and smoking.

The CVI can damage any of your leg veins, interfere with your daily life routines, with serious complications, like discomfort in walking. However, CVI does not cause a serious issue immediately, hence if it’s treated properly.

What does Donald Trump’s test show?

The White House Press Secretary has said given the President’s age is 79, he does not have severe conditions of CVI and he is in good health with good vitals. The medical examination of Trump in April 2025 revealed that the President’s muscles and joints had normal blood flow and range of motion, which means this condition has occurred recently.

The memo did not mention when the President first noticed the swelling; however, as per the routine checkup and test reports, the Press Secretary revealed that there is no evidence of serious deep vein thrombosis or any arterial diseases.

The Press Secretary said in the proceedings that the current conditions are not causing any discomfort to the President. However, the memo does not reveal how the President is being treated to mitigate the risk of disease.

What’s the treatment for the CVI condition?

As per the mental theories, the treatment of the CVI diseases depends on the stage of your disease and whether you have other medical conditions. There is no fixed treatment for CVI; however, the main task is to help the blood flow to the heart, reduce swelling, and take steps to prevent the condition from worsening.

According to a Vein Specialist, the main key to getting better is to get those leg veins to pump again, for that people are recommended to walk, have blood thinners to avoid blood clotting, aspiring, or wear compression stockings.

The doctors said the most severe cases would be when your leg has fluid squishing out, and it has a chance to become Edema. In that case, you have swollen and heavy legs that could affect your walking.

The CVI disease is not curable, as veins and valves cannot be reconstructed; however, the symptoms can be reduced, and the pain or discomfort can be reduced with the proper medication and treatment.

President Donald Trump is fine now and in good health for now as per the White House press release.
