When will the payment be received?
The Cash App settlement has been approved in January 2025, but the payment process may take a few months. Those who filled out the claim form by November 18, 2024, are likely to receive payment by the end of 2025.
It is also possible that in some cases the payment may slip to early 2026, especially if the verification of documents in a claim is long or the appeal process is long.
Many users may receive payment first via bank transfer, while payments by check may be slightly delayed. Therefore, if you choose the direct deposit option, you may receive payment first.
How much can be received?
Under the Cash App settlement, every eligible user will be paid in different categories:
- Out-of-pocket losses (actual loss): If you lost money due to a fraud or data leak, you can get a maximum amount of up to $2,500. For this, proper certificates or documents have to be provided.
- Loss of time (Lost Time Compensation): If you took time to contact customer service regarding data leak or fraud to secure the account again, then you can get a maximum of 3 hours or $75 for that at the rate of $25 per hour.
In this way, an eligible user can get a maximum of $2,575. However, the actual amount will depend on the validity of the claim and the quality of the documents.
How and when will I get paid?
There are two main ways to receive payment; these are direct deposit and physical check. Check details about each from below.
- Direct Bank Deposit: If you provided bank details while filling out the claim form, you will receive payment directly in your bank account.
- By Physical Check: If you opted for a check or did not provide bank details, you will be sent a check via mail. This process may take longer.
