CCB Payment Dates 2024 – Payout Schedule, Amount & Eligibility Criteria

The Canadian government offers financial support to families raising a child through Canada Child Benefit. The tax-free monthly CCB payment will commence on 19 July 2024. Parents, caregivers, or guardians can check the article to learn everything about this benefit for 2024. 

CCB Payment Dates 2024

The government understands that raising a child can be expensive for some parents, so to lessen the burden on parents, caregivers, or guardians responsible for a child under 18 years of age, the Canadian government initiated the Canada Child Benefit. 

Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) manages and administers the CCB payments. According to reports, many families in Canada utilize the Child benefit to provide their children with the better care and health needed for their development. The July payment of the Canada Child benefit will be recalculated based on the adjusted inflation and the family’s income.

The CCB recipients can expect the tax-fee monthly payment with a hike of 4.7% from July payments. According to the CCB payment schedule for 2024, the recipients will receive the July payment on 19 July 2024. Who is eligible for the CCB 2024 payments?

The people living in Canada who fulfill the following eligibility requirements are eligible to receive the CCB payments:

  • You should be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, temporary resident with a valid permit, or registered/entitled under the Indian Act. 
  • You are primarily responsible for the upbringing and care of the child, such as clothing, food, shelter, etc.
  • The child’s age should be under 18 and he/she must be living with you.
  • If the parents are separated, the person with whom the child lives for more than 60% of the time will be eligible for the payment. 
  • In most cases, among the couple, the female parents are preferred for CCB, however, the other parent can receive the CCB payment with a signed letter from the female partner saying they are responsible for the child. 
  • If the Child lives with same-sex parents, only one parent is eligible for the CCB. 
  • The income threshold for annual family income under CCB is $36502 for 2024. So, if your income goes above the threshold, your CCB payment will gradually decrease. 

Exclusions 

  • You cannot receive the CCB for a child in any month when Children Special Allowance is payable to you.

How much can you receive through the 2024 CCB payout?

As mentioned earlier, the authority recalculates the CCB payment every July to ensure the payment is enough for the recipients with the rising inflation. The authority recalculates the payment based on your previous year’s family income. 

According to reports, the recipients can expect a hike of 4.7% in their CCB payments from 2023 CCB payments. The recipients can receive a maximum payment of up to $648.91 depending on the family circumstances for the child under 6 as the base amount is $7787 for a year. For children aged between 6 and 17 years old, the recipients can receive an annual payment of $6570 for each child ($547.5 per month).

The amount of CCB monthly payout depends on the following factors that may vary your final payment:

  • Children age 
  • Your marital status or relationship
  • Number of eligible children in the household
  • Your adjusted family net income (AFNI) from tax returns

How to keep receiving your CCB payments?

The recipients should keep the following things in mind to continue their CCB payments:

  • Eligible Canadian citizens should ensure that their tax return is filed every year on time to receive their payments.
  • The CCB recipients must report the changes in circumstances to the CRA before the payment month, such as address change, marital status, bank account change, etc. 
  • The recipients should report the changes in child custody, shared custody, child no longer living with you, new addition in the family, or child death to the authority to receive the appropriate CCB payment. 

The CCB recipients should always follow the above instructions to receive the timely and appropriate CCB payments entitled to you. The recipients who fail to report the changes in their circumstances or situations can face legal action or penalties for incorrect information. 

How to apply for the CCB Payments 2024?

Canadian citizens can apply for the CCB benefits in the following situations:

  • When a child is born
  • Your shared custody arrangement changes
  • You begin to meet the eligibility conditions of CCB
  • You get the child custody and now the child lives with you
  • When the child is again under your responsibility after a temporary stay with someone else.

The Canadian who meets the eligibility requirement of the CCB can apply for the benefit in the following ways:

  • Birth registration: The new parents can apply for the CCB when they register the birth of their newborn at their territory or province office through SIN and consent to share their child’s birth registration information with CRA. You will receive your first CCB payment within 8 weeks of your birth registration.
  • Online: Canadians can apply for the CCB through their My Account (personal CRA account) online through relevant information and documents. 
  • By post: Canadians can request Form RC66 and submit the form with additional documents to their tax center to apply for the CCB. The recipients can receive their first payment after the approval of the application in 11 weeks. 

The Canadians will receive the hiked payment for 2024-25 from this month, on 19 July 2024. The eligible citizens who still haven’t applied for this benefit should apply immediately to receive the CCB payments to cover their child’s expenses.
