Due to technical issues, direct deposits may experience a delay of up to 72 hours, and due to workload, the postal service may take up to 7 days to deliver the paper cheque.

If you do not receive your payment even after waiting for the extended waiting period, then in this situation you should contact the Canada Revenue Agency to get information regarding this matter.

Canada Disability Benefit Eligibility Criteria 2026

To be eligible for the Canada Disability Benefit, you must meet the following requirements:

  • You are a Canadian citizen and reside in Canada.
  • You have filed your tax return for the 2024/2025 tax year.
  • You are approved for the disability tax credit.
  • You are not under 18 years of age or over 64 years of age.
  • Your adjusted family net income falls within the threshold.

Canada Disability Benefit Amount 2026

The total amount of the Canada Disability Benefit is $2400 for the benefit year 2025-26, which runs from July to June, which means a maximum of $200 is received each month during the benefit year.

Please note that this monthly payment is applicable for the first half of 2026, from January to June. Details for the second half, from July to December, will be released soon by the CRA.

The monthly $200 payment is only received by those whose income does not exceed the threshold for receiving full benefits. If the income is above this threshold, the benefit gradually starts to decrease.

The amount a person can receive depends on their adjusted family net income. To receive the full benefit, the threshold for the 2024 tax year (benefit year 2025-26) is $32,500 for singles and $32,500 for couples if one or both are eligible for the Canada Disability Benefit.

Please also note that working income of $10,000 for individuals and $14,000 for couples is totally exempt. It means that the income threshold for working individuals is $33,000 and for couples it is $46,500, respectively.

If the income is above the threshold for receiving maximum benefits, then for every dollar increase, there is a 20-cent reduction. However, for couples where both individuals are eligible for the Canada Disability Benefit, the reduction rate is only 10 cents for every dollar increase.
